Kathmandu, 14 January. In a bid to secure the release of Nepali youth Bipin Joshi from Palestinian extremist group HAMAS, Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba held a phone conversation on Tuesday evening with Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar.
Following reports that Hamas intends to release several individuals under its control, Minister Dr. Rana took the opportunity to urge the Israeli government to advocate for Bipin’s release through Minister Sa’ar.
During the telephone conversation, Minister Dr. Rana expressed gratitude towards the Israeli government for its stance regarding all captives, while making a special appeal for Bipin’s liberation from Hamas’s grasp.
Minister Sa’ar informed Dr. Rana that the Israeli government is making every effort to ensure Bipin’s safe release. He also conveyed his pleasure regarding Dr. Rana’s earlier discussion with the Qatari foreign minister, whose role as a chief negotiator and mediator in peace talks with Hamas is considered significant.
Earlier on Tuesday, Minister Dr. Rana communicated the same request to Qatari Deputy Foreign Minister Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi over the phone.
In light of recent news about Hamas’s intentions to release certain prisoners, Dr. Rana has been in contact with both the Israeli government and Hamas, as well as mediators from Qatar and Egypt, in an ongoing effort to secure a ceasefire and facilitate Bipin’s release. Just last week, she had reached out to the Egyptian government with a similar request.
